Who is your source?

Who is your source?

Who is your source? With so much information at our fingertips, the source of where it comes from is vital. It would be unwise to believe everything we read online and hear in the media. For information to be credible, we must know the source from which it came. If the source is reliable, then the information can be trusted. In the same way, if we know the source of our strength and identity as God’s beloved, then we can confidently walk out the calling He has placed on our lives.

We can see this play out in Apostle Paul (formerly Saul the one who persecuted Christians before God’s grace got a hold of Him), when he wrote to the churches in Galatia. He proclaimed in Galatians 1:1 that he, Paul, was an apostle appointed by God not man. An apostle was a witness of Jesus Christ, who was sent by Jesus to teach and spread the Gospel to the world. Paul made it known in his introduction that he was NOT APPOINTED BY MAN but by God. If God is the One who calls you, what others say or don’t say does not define you, what others think about you is none of your business! The work Paul did for the Kingdom of God and his qualifications to preach the GOOD NEWS was confirmed not because of what others thought but what God called him to. This was important to emphasize because he would encounter false teachers who challenged his apostleship. He wanted them to take this message seriously because the source was not from man but from God alone. If Paul didn’t have confidence on who his source was, he may have deterred the listeners from taking him seriously. If he wasn’t confident in his calling from God he may have lost confidence and boldness to share the Gospel.

Paul’s example shows us the importance of knowing who we are in Christ. If we don’t know who we are in Christ, we will find ourselves hostage to what others think of us, what circumstances life throws our way or how we feel that day. Jesus is the Source! He gives us the confidence and boldness to carry out the calling God has placed on our lives. When we understand that the source of our strength is God, who has the power to raise the dead to life, we find the freedom to boldly step into the purposeful life God has called us to. Like Paul, we need this boldness in Christ Jesus when faced with those who “deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ ” (Galatians 1:7). God will curse those who twist and preach a different kind of GOOD NEWS (Galatians 1:8). Paul was not trying to win the approval of man but of God alone! He says if he was trying to please people he wouldn’t be Christ servant (Galatians 1:10).

As a servant of God it is our duty to please God and share His Good News to all the world. Right now in the world we are living in there are so many voices out there, they slowly twist and manipulate the Truth. These evil forces are sugar coating God’s word and making it appeasing for that matter at hand. God’s Word is Gods Word and it does not turn void!

It’s time to wake up! Time to open your Bibles and read what God has to say for yourself! It’s time to let Holy Spirit invade you and let Him direct you. For Him to direct you to the TRUTH and to your calling He placed on your life. It’s time to tap into THE SOURCE; Jesus! Time to eliminate all the distractions and noise. Don’t be tossed to and fro by false teachings and every wind of doctrine!

Paul’s blessing in Galatians 1:3-5 is a great reminder of God’s love and grace on His people and to not be discouraged when we fall off track. God is always there with His grace to align us with His truth and His deliverance to bring us back home. As Paul prayed this over the churches in Galatia, I too am praying this over you, “Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself [as a sacrifice to atone] for our sins [to save and sanctify us] so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, in accordance with the will and purpose and plan of our God and Father—to Him be [ascribed all] the glory through the ages of the ages. Amen.”
